Why use UniCourt to search for cases in the District of South Dakota?

When searching for the court records you need for the District of South Dakota, using the Public Access to Court Electronic Records, or PACER, can result in exorbitant fees and much frustration.

As opposed to PACER, UniCourt gathers court data for all of the new federal civil cases in the District of South Dakota every day and gives you the ability to search through all of those new case filings in our CrowdSourced Libraryâ„¢ without paying any fees. Furthermore, UniCourt provides you with real-time, bulk access to the entire PACER database of civil and criminal federal court data from the District of South Dakota through our PACER API.

When using PACER, you will get charged for every case search you make even if the searches are not helpful to you. Because PACER does not set limits on cost per case search, fees can build up for unsatisfactory searches. Utilizing UniCourt’s database can help prevent an excess amount of fees.

Furthermore, you will have to pay document fees when using PACER. The document fees amount to 10 cents per page. PACER claims that these document fees are capped at $3, but when you try to access court transcripts, the cap will increase. When using PACER, you will have to pay fees to download the same document more than once. With UniCourt, performing multiple downloads of the same document can be done for free as long as the document is in our CrowdSourced Libraryâ„¢.

In addition to the U.S. District Court for the District of South Dakota, UniCourt gives you access to all federal court records within South Dakota, such as cases filed in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of South Dakota.

UniCourt’s industry-leading Legal Data APIs provide Enterprise users with on-demand, bulk access to structured data from the state of South Dakota and federal courts. UniCourt collects, organizes, standardizes, and normalizes court data from all federal courts and makes it easily accessible via our APIs as a part of our Legal Data as a Service (LDaaS) offerings for business development, competitive intelligence, litigation strategy, and docket management.
